Manchester United and Manchester City to lodge Nicolas Otamendi

Both Manchester United and Manchester City will put forward offers for Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi this week, according to reports in Spain.

Valencia-based newspaper Superdeporte claim that the Premier League giants will approach his agent, Jorge Mendes, with their bids in the coming days as the race for his signature starts to heat up.

The Spanish source doesn't give a specific amount that either club will bid, however it does claim that both Manchester United and Manchester City will offer him wages of between €3.5 - 4 million in order to lure him to the Premier League.

Otamendi has a release clause worth €50 million written into his contract that Valencia insist must be met in order to make a deal happen, but it is unlikely that either club will offer that amount.

Instead they'll bank on the Argentinian international's desire to leave forcing them into selling at a lower price. His representative representative Eugenio Lopez claimed back in May that Otamendi had told Valencia's president that he wanted to leave.
