Former Nigeria captain Nwankwo Kanu believes Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi and Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho will make the Super Eagles a global force in years to come.
Iwobi has sparkled this season for the Gunners while Iheanacho has proved to be a reliable understudy to Sergio Aguero at City. Both stars are just 20 and still have years of top-flight football to look forward to.
As such, Kanu takes the view that the future of Nigerian football is bright with two players of their quality available to play for the national side.
“With what I have seen from these boys, I think the national team has a future and that is why I said in the next one or two years, the Eagles will be there and bounce back to reckoning,” he told SportingLife.
“This, however, depends on how we do as well as manage things in the country. It is left for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to package the players and the national team well.”
