Three exciting games lit up the NBA Sunday night which included matchups between the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat, the Brooklyn Nets and Memphis Grizzlies, and the Phoenix Suns and Minnesota Timberwolves with an impressive showing by center Karl-Anthony Towns.
Timberwolves dim Suns
The Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Phoenix Suns 119-108 on the back of Karl-Anthony Towns’ 32-point, 12-rebound double-double, Jimmy Butler had 25 points, four rebounds and five assists, Andrew Wiggins had 21 points, five rebounds and four assists, Taj Gibson had a 16-point, 14-rebound double-double, while Senegalese forward Gorgui Dieng finished with 11 points and six rebounds.
Phoenix was led by Mike James with 26 points, five rebounds and seven assists, TJ Warren had 18 points and four rebounds, Troy Daniels had 13 points, and Tyson Chandler ended the game with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Nets trap Grizzlies
The Brooklyn Nets handed the Memphis Grizzlies their eighth loss of the season beating them 98-88. DeMarre Carroll had 24 points and six rebounds, Trevor Booker had a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double, and Joe Harris finished with 13 points and six rebounds.
Tyreke Evans led Memphis with 18 points and six rebounds, Mark Gasol also had 18 with five rebounds, Chandler Parson had 12 points and six rebounds, and JaMychal Green ended the game with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Heat burns Bulls
After scoring in single digits at the end of the first quarter, the Miami Heat took control in the second and defeated the Chicago Bulls 100-93. Goran Dragic had 24 points, Wayne Ellington 19, James Johnson had 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists, and Hassan Whiteside ended the night with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Chicago was led by Jerian Grant with 24 points, Justin Holiday had 15, Denzel Valentine had a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double, and rookie Lauri Markkanen also finished with a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
