The Cleveland Cavaliers won their seventh straight game while the Memphis Grizzlies bounced to a seventh straight loss, Russell Westbrook missed a trey with five seconds left and the Oklahoma City Thunder lost, the Boston Celtics dropped 40 points in a blistering first quarter, Stephen Curry outscored the Chicago Bulls in the second quarter in the Golden State Warriors’ blow-out win, and Victor Oladipo won the battle of the Africans.
Oladipo’s Pacers see off Ibaka’s Raptors
Nigerian-American guard Victor Oladipo was the last African standing as he led the Indiana Pacers to a 107-104 win over the Toronto Raptors in a game that had four players of African descent in action. While Oladipo suited up for Pacers, Congolese forward Serge Ibaka, Cameroonian forward Pascal Siakam and Nigerian-British forward OG Anunoby were in action for Raptors. The Pacers guard led his team with 24 points, Bojan Bogdanovic scored 19, and Lance Stephenson contributed 18 to the Pacers cause from the bench.
Kyle Lowry led Raptors with 24 points and 10 rebounds, Norman Powell came off the bench to score 16. Ibaka had 10 points and seven rebounds while Anunoby, who kept his starting position, scored eight. Siakam was 2-of-6 from the floor for five points. Toronto lost the second game in a row, and Indiana won their fifth straight.
LeBron goes for season highs in seventh straight win
LeBron James notched his 57th career triple-double as the Cleveland Cavaliers overcame a resilient Charlotte Hornets 100-99, to secure a seventh straight win. The King recorded 27 points, and added a season-high 16 rebounds and 13 assists, JR Smith had 16, and the quartet of Jae Crowther, Kevin Love, Kyle Korver and Dwayne Wade also scored in double figures.
Dwight Howard led Charlotte with a 20-point, 13-rebound double-double and Kemba Walker contributed 15 points, six rebounds and eight assists. Other Hornets starters Marvin Williams, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (both 17 points), Jeremy Lamb (11, seven rebounds and seven assists) and Michael Carter-Williams (11 from the bench) also contributed in their loss.
Schroder’s Hawks win again
Gambian-German guard Denis Schroder’s Atlanta Hawks overcame a huge first-half deficit, and snapped a three-game losing streak to secure a 116-104 home win over Rwandese-French guard Frank Ntilikina’s New York Knicks. It is just the fourth win for the Hawks who improve to 4-15, while Knicks, who had won back-to-back games, dropped to 10-8. All Hawks starters scored in double figures, with Schroder leading his team with 26 points and eight assists, Dwayne Dedmon scored 16 and grabbed six rebounds and John Collins and Taurean Smith added 13 each. Marco Belinelli contributed 15 points and five assists from the bench.
The Knicks got 28 points from Kristaps Porzingis, Courtney Lee scored 26 and Tim Hardaway Jr 22, and veteran guard Jarret Jack recorded a 10-point, 14-assist double-double.
Mudiay’s Nuggets extend Grizzlies’ losing streak to seven games
The Denver Nuggets won their fifth straight home game, and the Memphis Grizzlies saw a poor run extend to seven games as they fell 104-92 to the Nuggets Friday night. Nikola Jokic led Denver with a 28-point, 13-rebound double-double, Jamal Murray and Gary Harris added 15 each, and Kenneth Faried scored 14 and hauled down nine rebounds. Emmanuel Mudiay was in action for 11 minutes and bagged seven points on 3-of-6 shooting.
Marc Gasol led Grizzlies with a 15-point, 14-rebound double-double, Jamychal Green scored 21 points and Tyreke Evans (off the bench) contributed 15 in the losing effort.

The Portland Trail Blazers beat the Brooklyn Nets 127-125, the Miami Heat defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 109-97, the Detroit Pistons beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 99-98 on the back of Andre Drummond’s 17-point, 14-rebound double-double, 23 points from Anthony Davis helped the New Orleans Pelicans defeat the Phoenix Suns 115-91, the Boston Celtics downed the Orlando Magic 118-103 on Kyrie Irving’s 30 points (Semi Ojeleye scored seven points and five rebounds for the Celtics; Bismarck Biyombo eight points and eight rebounds for the Magic), and the Golden State Warriors handed the Chicago Bulls a 143-94 blow-out.
