Australia demolish England at Lords to level Ashes series

Shortly after tea on Sunday afternoon at Lords, Australia levelled the Ashes series at one game apiece with a comprehensive defeat of England.

Another English batting collapse

Set a target of 509 runs to win the second test match, or bat out five sessions to earn a draw and save the game England capitulated in their second innings, registering the pitiful score of 103 all out. Australia won the game by 405 runs. The defeat was England's third highest defeat by runs, in the history of games against Australia.

England's batting lasts just over one session

England were bowled out in just over one session, thirty-seven overs to be exact. Their top scorer, was fast bowler Stuart Broad, who scored 25, and once again the top order was a disgrace. Pathetic, humiliating, disgraceful are just some of the words that can be used to describe England's woeful batting display.

The performance was made to look even worse by the fact that Australia scored 254 -2 in just 49 overs on the same pitch.

Changes have to be made

Players such as Adam Lyth, Gary Ballance and Ian Bell have to be in serious danger of being replaced. It is all well and good to say players deserve a fair run in the side, but when they keep turning in poor performances, then eventually they have to be replaced by players in form on the county circuit.
