Karim Benzema open to joining Arsenal this summer

Benzema ball in face.Karim Benzema told Arsene Wenger that he would be willing to join Arsenal this summer if his position in the Real Madrid squad becomes unstable, reports El Confidencial.

The Madrid-based broadsheet has made a habit of reporting on the city's biggest football club and has built a reliable reputation over the last two summer transfer windows.

As Sport Witness note, the journalists at El Confidencial were one of the first to report on Mesut Ozil's exit in 2013 as well as Gonzalo Higuain's and Angel di Maria's move to Napoli and Manchester United respectively.

Now they are dead set on Benzema's impending doom as they believe new manager Rafa Benitez is ready to ditch the Frenchman in favour of playing either Gareth Bale of Cristiano Ronaldo in the central-striker role.

Should Benzema find himself on the fringes of this new-look Real Madrid squad, then Arsenal are ready to tempt Florentino Perez into a sale. Wenger has been a long-term admirer of the striker and previously attempted to sign him as well as Ozil two summers ago.
