Nantes confirm Papy Djilobodji has signed for Chelsea on four-year deal

Chelsea have officially signed Senegalese centre-back Papy Djilobodji on a four-year deal, Ligue 1 side Nantes have confirmed.
Reports earlier today saw it rumoured that the Blues had completed the capture of the 26-year-old late last night, though until Nantes released their own information today many sources were unsure as to the credibility of the speculation.

Indeed any hearsay has been well and truly put to bed by the fact that the French outfit confirmed Djilobodji’s transfer both on their official site and via the club’s Twitter channel.
It’s believed the Blues paid just £2.7million for the defender, and he’ll now act as cover for the likes of John Terry, Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma, whilst also providing competition for the first-team berths in the heart of Jose Mourinho’s back-line.

The transfer, which surprised many with its efficiency from start to finish, comes as a result of Chelsea failing to secure a move for Everton’s John Stones, with the Toffees playing hardball over his possible exit.
